Westralia Square
In September 2021 Safe and Sound started early works for Perth’s First Timber & Steel hybrid 11-story development. Vehicle access and general space on site proved to be difficult on this project. Handrail and small scaffold installs for demolition works started as we planned a safe and quick method to erect the 55m high façade scaffold on the building’s Eastern elevation. Safety for surrounding buildings and public walkways was our number one concern, so we developed a plan to erect the façade scaffold in cranable modules. This design is for maximum safety during the erection and dismantling process, the scaffold was built in individual modules and then craned into position. This process reduces risks while working at heights and enabled us to keep up with the fast-moving schedule while keeping a high safety factor. Swing stages, massive birdcage, riser shaft and void scaffolds kept our team busy on this project, but it was our WorkRight system that was the centre of attention. The WorkRight system allows us to install a handrail on the live edge of each floor level and then attach a fan/catch net or monorail for the safety and installation of the façade works.
His Majesty’s Theatre
In October 2021, the team at Safe and Sound Scaffolding began scaffold works on the iconic 118-year-old heritage theatre. We started by erecting a gantry along King and Hay street, then followed with a full-height scaffold for demolition and façade works. With public safety being our highest priority additional installation of heavy-duty ConstructAmesh, ChainMesh and FenderBoards for demolition containment was needed. Due to high levels of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, internal stair access kept the scaffold profile as slim as possible. With the Demolition stage finished and a few scaffold alterations the façade work began, the primary goal was to reinstate external balcony structures and return the building to its original façade. Once the façade works were complete the scaffold was carefully dismantled allowing for balcony installation.
Chevron Western Crane Bridge
The 30-story Chevron Tower has been a complex and technical project for the Safe and Sound team, crane bridge scaffolds, cantilevers, birdcages, handrails, stair voids and numerous access towers throughout the site have kept our team extremely busy on this project. Multiple scaffold teams were needed on this site due to having multiple clients on the same project, large laydown areas, crane use and great site logistics have played a crucial role in getting our work done.
Our crane access scaffolds are quite possibly the highlight of our work at the Chevron Tower, with some great views of our city these scaffolds were by far the most favourable jobs for the Safe and Sound team.
